Dr Carr graduated in medicine with honours, at Sydney University. He completed his postgraduate studies at the MIU Institute of Ayurvedic Studies, Iowa, USA and the Gujarat Ayurveda University, Jamnagar, India in 1984-85. He furthered his studies at the World Centre for Ayurveda, Delhi, India and the Maharishi Vedic University, Holland.
Dr Carr has worked with some of the foremost Vaidyas (Ayurvedic Physicans) of India. He has lectured Australia-wide on prevention-oriented natural health care and has conducted many training courses for doctors and health care professionals in Maharishi Ayur-Veda.
In 1991, Dr Carr authored the article “Medicine at the Mind-Body Interface – The approach of Maharishi Ayurveda” (International Clinical Nutritional Review Vol. 11, No. 4).
Dr Carr is a trained teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique and has researched the medical applications of this simple mental technique.
In 2002, Dr Carr was appointed expert advisor on Ayurveda to the Complementary Medicines Evaluation Committee of the Australian Government’s Therapeutic Goods Administration.
He is currently president of the Maharishi Vedic Health Practitioners Association of Australia and board member of Maharishi School, Melbourne.
